Veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan professionally known as Ogogo has passed away today, 23rd, August, 2026.
Kira Taiwo, the daughter of veteran Nollywood actor confirmed the death of her 66-year-old father during an Instagram live session as she was completely devastated in the video.
The heartbroken daughter could be heard saying “Help me to call my sister, help me to call them, my family, my daddy is dead, I don’t believe, I don’t believe them, I want to go home, mummy, mummy, ah.”
On Monday evening, August 17, 2026, Ogogo’s daughters, Kira Taiwo and Lima Taiwo, made emotional appeals on social media as they sought medical advice and possible treatment options for their father, who was battling stage 4 cancer.
Kira revealed that doctors had informed the family that they could no longer administer chemotherapy because of the severity of his condition. The family subsequently began exploring alternative options, including specialised medical procedures and traditional remedies, in the hope of finding a treatment that could improve the actor’s condition.
She stressed that the family was not asking the public for financial donations but was instead seeking information, recommendations and medical assistance that could potentially help their father recover.
Lima Taiwo also disclosed that some hospitals had reportedly declined to treat Ogogo because of his stage 4 cancer, a development that left her deeply worried and fearful of losing her father.

Kira Taiwo, daughter of veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, broke down in tears during a livestream on Sunday, August 23, 2026, as she addressed a cleric who allegedly publicised details of a visit to her ailing father.
The emotional reaction followed the cleric’s reported visit to Ogogo’s location to deliver herbal remedies, after which he released a video showing what he encountered during the visit.
According to Kira, the disclosure had a devastating impact on her family, particularly an elder relative she fondly refers to as her “big daddy.”
She revealed that her relative was reportedly unaware of Ogogo’s health condition until the cleric’s video began circulating online. The footage eventually made its way into the family’s WhatsApp group, where relatives regularly discuss the actor’s health.
Kira said a cousin later disclosed in the group chat that her “big daddy” had been left heartbroken and was crying while asking in Yoruba, “Is Taye leaving us?”
The revelation visibly overwhelmed Kira as she recounted the incident, with the actress struggling to hold back tears while describing the emotional toll the situation had taken on the family.
She further disclosed that she had found it difficult to look at the numerous photographs and videos of her father circulating on social media, insisting that the veteran actor did not deserve to be exposed in such a vulnerable state.
Kira also expressed frustration over how details of her father’s health became public, saying the situation had subjected the family to additional emotional distress during an already difficult period.
However, rather than confronting the cleric publicly, Kira said she had chosen to leave the matter in God’s hands.
Beyond the emotional pain, the actor’s daughter also expressed anger over what she described as attempts by some individuals to profit from her father’s illness.
Speaking during a TikTok live session, Kira said several people who approached the family claiming to have solutions to Ogogo’s condition were demanding huge sums of money.
“My father is a good father. Some people are even trying to make money with us in this whole situation. Fear God. This one will come and bring solution, ₦800,000, ₦5 million, $11,000, $18,000. Do you want to make us broke? We are not billionaires,” she said.
According to her, the family does not have the financial capacity to meet such demands, stressing that their priority is to find effective treatment for the veteran actor rather than raise money for individuals making expensive demands.
Kira also admitted that the situation had taken a serious toll on her own wellbeing.
“I want to check my BP; I am not okay too,” she said.
She further disclosed that Ogogo’s health crisis had deeply affected his elder brother, whom she affectionately calls her “big daddy.”
Kira said she learnt about the extent of her uncle’s emotional distress through the family’s WhatsApp group, where relatives regularly share updates about Ogogo’s condition.
“That was the video my big daddy saw, and on the group chat, where we always have our discussion about daddy’s health, I saw my cousin wrote something like, my big daddy was asking, ‘Is Taiye going to die?’” she said.
She explained that her father and his brother share an exceptionally close bond, making the situation particularly painful for the entire family.
“My big daddy and my daddy, we are the children; we don’t even know who they love more. We don’t even know if it is we they love more or themselves. It is too much. My big daddy loves my daddy too much,” she said.
Kira added that she was also worried about her uncle, whom she believed was struggling to cope with the situation.
“I am sure my big daddy is not okay; he is not fine. He is not fine. I don’t know,” she said.
The actress also opened up about her own emotional struggle, revealing that she had withdrawn from social media because she found it difficult to see pictures and videos of her father while he battles his health condition.
“I don’t know how I will feel. I don’t even know how I will see the world again. If anything happens to my daddy… Please don’t think I am here to ask for sympathy or anything,” she said.
Kira explained that she had initially gone online to “cool off,” but became emotional while discussing her deep bond with her father.
“I am so connected to my daddy. Nothing can be okay, ever. He just wants the best for everybody. He just wants everybody to be okay,” she said.
Her emotional account has since drawn sympathy from fans and well-wishers, many of whom have continued to pray for Ogogo’s recovery while appealing to the public to respect the actor and his family’s privacy during the difficult period.
Islamic cleric who publicly offered herbs for Ogogo’s stage 4 cancer treatment gives update after visiting actor at the hospital
An Islamic cleric who had publicly promised to provide herbal medicine for ailing Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has visited the veteran actor at a Lagos hospital and shared a concerning update about his health.
The cleric, known on Facebook as Alihamidtv, revealed that he fulfilled his promise by taking several litres of herbal concoction to the hospital on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
However, he disclosed that he had to divide the herbal medicine into smaller portions before he could gain access to Ogogo’s ward, explaining that the hospital had restrictions on bringing traditional medicine into the facility.
After seeing the veteran actor in person, the cleric expressed deep concern over his condition, claiming that Ogogo appeared extremely weak and may not have had the strength to take the herbal treatment.
According to him, the actor had also stopped eating, further highlighting the seriousness of his condition.
“I saw Alhaji Hassan Ogogo yesterday at the hospital; at this junction, he only needs God’s intervention. In fact, he doesn’t even have strength for herbs at the moment; he can’t even eat anymore,” he said.
The cleric said he eventually left the herbal concoction with Ogogo’s family, but acknowledged that the actor’s condition had become critical and that divine intervention was needed.
“Please let’s continue to put him in our prayers. There’s nothing our God cannot do. Though I dropped all the concoction with them yesterday, it takes the grace of God at this point,” he added.
